An atmospheric and immersive Christmas experience taking place throughout Exeter's oldest building. Join Ebenezer Scrooge on a journey through past, present and future in this theatrical reimagining of Charles Dickens' classic ghost story A Christmas Carol.
First staged in 2017, Humbug! is now Exeter’s longest-running festive show. This year we’ll celebrate our 150th performance on Wednesday 17th December at 7pm, with all proceeds donated to Exeter Food Bank, supporting local people in need this Christmas.

The show lasts approximately 90 minutes and there is no interval.
The temperature varies throughout the building so we recommend wearing warm layers for maximum comfort.
Recommended age: 8+
Humbug! has been designed with younger audience members in mind but aspects of the show may be too frightening for some children.
Directions
St Nicholas Priory is located in The Mint, a footway leading off from Fore Street a little down the hill from the traffic lights and The Mint Methodist Church.
St Nicholas Priory
Founded by William the Conqueror in 1087, St Nicholas Priory was home to Benedictine monks for over 400 years. In 1536, like other monasteries, it was closed and the remains became the home of wealthy Tudor merchants.
The two ranges remaining from the original four-sided structure are now managed by Exeter Historic Buildings Trust.
Access
This is a promenade performance. Some seating will be available during the show but there may be sections where you are required to stand. Regrettably, due to the nature of this historic venue, Humbug! is not suitable for wheelchair users.
